Kaycee: Kitchen Calculator
Privacy Policy
Effective: July 21, 2026
Kaycee is built so that your data stays yours. The short version: your recipes live on your device, sync (if you turn it on) goes through your own private iCloud, and there are no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. Your data is never collected, so it can never be sold, shared, or leaked.
What is collected
Nothing. Kaycee has no user accounts, no analytics or tracking SDKs, no advertising, and no server that stores your data. Kaycee's App Store privacy label is “Data Not Collected,” and this policy explains why that's true.
Where your recipes live
Your recipes, groups, tags, photos, and settings are stored in a database on your device. They work fully offline and are included in your normal device backups.
iCloud Sync
If you use iCloud Sync (it's optional and can be turned off in Settings ▸ Data), your recipes sync through your private iCloud database, the one attached to your Apple Account. The contents are end-to-end encrypted; no one else can read them, including the app's developer. Sync is governed by Apple's iCloud terms and Apple's privacy policy.
To remove synced data from iCloud entirely: delete your recipes in the app (or delete the app's iCloud data under iOS Settings ▸ your name ▸ iCloud ▸ Manage Account Storage ▸ Kaycee).
Recipe importing and ingredient parsing
Two features briefly use a parsing service, and it's worth being precise about them:
- Importing from a website sends the page address (and its content) to the parsing service to extract the recipe.
- Saving a recipe sends the ingredient lines (text like “2 cups flour”) to the same service to split them into amount, unit, and ingredient.
This service is stateless: it parses the text it's sent, returns the result, and keeps nothing. Request contents are never stored, logged, shared, or linked to you (there's no account to link them to). Recipe scanning, by contrast, happens entirely on your device; photos of your cookbooks never leave it.
Purchases
Kaycee Pro purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. Payment details never reach the app or its developer. Purchase status is checked on-device through Apple's StoreKit framework and isn't sent anywhere else.
Device permissions
- Camera: only when you take a photo for a recipe or scan a cookbook page. Photos are processed on-device.
- Photo library:uses Apple's photo picker, which shares only the specific photos you choose.
- Alarms & notifications: used for cooking timers you start, on your device.
Each permission is asked for when you first use the feature, and everything works locally.
Support emails and problem reports
Emails to support@kaycee.app contain only what you choose to send, and are used solely to help you.
The in-app Report a Problem option prepares an email with a diagnostic attachment to make troubleshooting possible. That attachment contains, exactly:
- App version and build number
- Device model and iOS version
- Language and region settings
- Whether iCloud Sync is enabled, and the sync engine's status log
- App health logs, and technical stack traces if the app recently crashed or hung
It never includes your recipes, photos, or any personal content. The attachment is a readable zip of plain-text files. You can inspect it, and you can delete it from the email before sending if you prefer. It's used only for troubleshooting and is never shared.
Separately: if “Share With App Developers” is enabled in iOS Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Analytics, Apple may share anonymized crash reports with the developer. That setting is Apple's, is off unless you opted in, and contains no recipe data.
Your data, your exit
Backup export is free and always will be. You can export your full library (recipes, groups, tags, photos) at any time from Settings ▸ Data, and deleting the app deletes the on-device database. Nothing is held back.
Children
Kaycee doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If Kaycee's data practices ever change (for example, if a future feature needs something this policy doesn't cover), this page will be updated and the change noted in the app's release notes before it takes effect.
